What are SIC Codes?

SIC codes (Standard Industrial Classification codes) are five-digit codes used by the UK government to classify businesses by their primary economic activity. Every company registered with Companies House must select at least one SIC code that best describes what they do.

The current UK system is SIC 2007, which contains 731 individual codes organised into 21 sections, 88 divisions, 274 groups, and 618 classes. siccodes.co.uk maps every code to the GICS and ICB financial classification standards used by global investors.
